Our distinguished delegates standing proud in their traditional attire at the close of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Mock AU Summit in commemoration of AU Day.

The assembly grounds at Fountain of Youth International School (FOY) was transformed into a bustling continental diplomatic center as our learners took charge of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Mock African Union (AU) Summit on Monday, 25th May, 2026. Dressed in a breathtaking sea of vibrant kente, sweeping agbadas, rich djellabas, and the brilliant colors of various African flags, our young delegates proved that the future of African leadership is already here.

This year’s summit was far more than a display of beautiful culture; it was a rigorous academic exercise focused on a critical continental challenge. Moving away from standard classroom routines, our young leaders tackled the official theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”

The session officially commenced with a powerful, commanding opening address from Miss Dillys Sati Akyea Arthur playing the AU Commission Chairperson, who laid out the challenges facing millions of children across the continent and challenged the delegates to find real solutions.

Representing five distinct geographic blocs, the student delegations presented highly innovative, localized solutions to the water crisis:

  • Northern Africa impressed the assembly with solar-powered ocean desalination engineering concepts.
  • Western Africa championed unity, presenting a framework for cross-border river treaties and shared resource management.
  • Central Africa highlighted the preservation of the Congo Basin—the “Green Heart of Africa”—to protect continental rainfall.
  • Eastern Africa brought tech to the forefront, showcasing how mobile phone alerts and smart rainwater harvesting can combat extreme weather.
  • Southern Africa tackled urban expansion with creative designs for modern, waterless eco-sanitation systems.

Following a brilliant synthesis by the rotating AU Chairperson, the delegates were thrown into the “hot seat” during a spirited Press Q&A Session. Student journalists grilled the panels with sharp questions, pushing our young diplomats to defend their policies with confidence, clarity, and critical thinking.

The historic day concluded with a vibrant cultural showcase, colorful delegation group photos, and the official sounding of the gavel to adjourn the session. Congratulations to our stellar learners for reminding us that when Africa works together, we win. We already cannot wait to see what these future global leaders accomplish next.
