On Wednesday, 22nd July 2026, our school community had the honour of hosting students and chaperones from the U.S.-based Rites of Passage Program for a memorable 90-minute cultural and educational exchange.
The delegation—comprising 12 students and 5 adult chaperones—visited as part of their 13-week study module focused on Black and African history, identity, and leadership. The morning provided a vibrant platform for our students to connect with their peers from across the Atlantic, sharing unique perspectives and discovering common aspirations.
The highlight of the visit was an interactive focus group session centered on leadership and youth empowerment. Working side-by-side in mixed groups, students engaged in candid discussions about:
- Personal experiences and values that shape young leaders.
- Overcoming common challenges faced by youth in different parts of the world.
- Practical ways students can exercise leadership within their schools and communities.
Following the breakout discussions, each group took to the stage to present their collective insights, showcasing impressive teamwork, mutual respect, and inspiring ideas for future collaboration.
The visit offered our students a rich opportunity for cross-cultural dialogue, global networking, and shared learning. We extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Emma Gifford and the Rites of Passage team for choosing our school as a partner in this meaningful initiative.
Events like these remind us that while our backgrounds may differ, our shared vision for learning, character, and leadership unites us. We look forward to building on this partnership in the years ahead!
